About Us
OUR HISTORY
Our journey began in 2016 with a shared vision to empower rural women and girls
- 2016 – Founded as a women’s savings group
- 2017 – Registered as a community-based organisation in Nwoya District
- 2018 – Expanded programs on girls’ education and human rights advocacy
- 2020 – Strengthened economic empowerment and livelihood initiatives
- 2022 – Scaled community outreach and environmental conservation efforts
Rural Women Empowerment Initiative (RWEI-Uganda) was founded by a group of visionary rural women in Northern Uganda to address the challenges affecting women, girls, and vulnerable communities. Over the years, the organisation has grown from a small savings group into a community-driven initiative focused on promoting human rights, improving access to education, strengthening livelihoods, and building resilience among communities.
Through partnerships with communities, local leaders, and stakeholders, RWEI continues to amplify the voices of marginalized women and girls while promoting sustainable and inclusive development.
